Donna P. Hetrick has been active in the fitness industry since 1982. She has taught a variety of aerobic, strength and general fitness classes in the Fredericksburg community at The Body Shop, Olympian Fitness Center, The Rappahannock Area YMCA, Weight Wise, La Femme Physique, Highlanders Health & Fitness and The Fitness Zone. In addition, she developed an arm chair aerobics program for the Cancer Center of Virginia and is a frequent speaker on fitness and nutrition to the American Diabetes Association, Childhood Development agencies, the Fredericksburg Health Alliance, the Barbara Geslock Women’s Forum, numerous area athletic associations, health-related support groups and in area elementary and high schools.
She has provided fitness assessments and nutritional counseling to area employers such as the Rappahannock Electric Cooperative and conducted workshops on “Walking for Wellness” and natural approaches to wellness for area physicians. She has been featured in videos entitled ”How to Get Fit and Stay Fit,” and “Children’s Nutrition” produced by the Springfield division of Shaklee, Inc. She is nationally certified in aerobics instruction and personal training by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, AFAA, and by the American Council on Exercise, ACE. She is also certified by PowerStrikes to teach kickboxing.
On the nutrition front, Donna holds a Diploma in nutrition from the American Academy of Nutrition, is a Certified Blood Chemistry Analyst and a Certified Clinical Nutritionist.
She is a member of the International and American Associations of Clinical Nutritionists and maintains a proficiency in exercise instruction, nutritional counseling and wholistic wellness by attending workshops and ongoing study.
Donna, her husband John and one of her three children, Jeri Liz, 17 live in Spotsylvania. Her oldest daughter, Johnna, 24, attended Christopher Newport University and son, Sean, 21, attends James Madison University.
